Whisper

Whisper

Let the minotaur roar,
thunder its hooves
against the stone

of its twisted halls.
Call the cyclops
from its cave;

hear its foul bellow burst
over crooked teeth,
through nostrils

as deep as night.
Dare the dragon to spit
a heat that sizzles heart,

softens bone, but hide me
from the whisper,
cold and hollow,

that slinks in shadow’s marrow:
I’ve found you. I’ve found you.
