Shuffled Steps

It was bound to happen. My first autumn poem (and photo).

Shuffled Steps

The brown leaf,
brittle, dry,
curled,
like an arthritic hand,
still scrapes a song,
dragging its stem
against the cracked road
where pebbles stare,
still and quiet,
children gawking
at an old man.
