Above, Unseen (Part II)

Not satisfied with my last post, this morning’s poem, I’ve revised the post and poem into this evening’s post and poem.

 Above, Unseen

Sunlight sugars
the tree tops,
the leafy crowns,

where butterflies waltz,
weaving flight with the buzz
and hum of  dragonflies,

dawn dusting each wing,
splendent and fragile.

Shadow burdens
the dark leaves,
a blanket heavy and cool.

The butterflies,
with paper wings,
flit beneath the eaves

of night, each seeking
its death, and the dragonflies
thrum above the tulips

where day’s last light pools,
breath’s sweetest nectar.
