Staining Black the Cold Floor

The poem below is written in response to a challenge offerred on Impromptu Promptings.

Just So You Know

I scraped the cream
off the milk you hid
in the cellar

behind the clay pots,
licked it from my hands
as a cat licks its paws,

each taste sweet and thick,
weaving my delight
with the darkness

that spilt from my heart,
staining black the cold floor.

  2. I wondered why I hadn’t seen any posts from you in a while. Thanks to Judy’s re-blog, I discovered I was NOT following you. Even though the last I knew, I was! Thank you, Judy … I might have missed the pleasure of reading this curiously darkish poem. 🙂
