Thought Odysseus

Thought Odysseus

Discussing the goats –
where each herd should
graze in the spring –

Odysseus thought how much
his enemy’s blood,
splattered, blooming

on the walls,
billowing, crimson
splashes about his throne,

reminded him
of the sea
clashing

against his ship,
thunderous,
mighty,

salting his lips
with challenge
and purpose.
