Eden’s Demise

I doubt this piece. I seems a bit forced. I think I need to slow down a bit, let my pen rest.

In the Woods

Today, I touched
the world
where

no one else
has ever touched –
a small spec of earth,

next to a gray rock
crusted, flecked
with green

and an aging stump,
rotten and soft,
heavy

with its own sweat.
My bones
quivered, ached

smote
with creation’s grief.
I knelt and wept.

My own breath –
unfamiliar.
