Grosteque Beauty

Can the grotesque also be beautiful?

I’m not too keen on the poem’s title. Please, share a few suggestions.

Palette

The opossum
smeared

on the road’s
black skin:

a stain,
fur and piss

and blood.
Sunlight slicks

its color and shimmers –
hues of olive,

cherry,
mustard:

all the beauty
of autumn.

      1. Well Plato said, “Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder,” thank God! And there are lots of stories, poems written about that. I think it’s a fair and interesting question. It was a worthwhile exploration!
