Maturity

Grossly mis-defined,
maturity is most tangible
when witnessed in a man,
gray whiskered and bent,
who maintains the ability
to peer into the dark air
pine trees shepherd
under their limbs
and wonder what strange
and watchful eyes
peer back at him.
